What kind of certification do you have? CD(DONA)

Do you have experience providing labor support? How many births have you attended? over 160

Do you have any special knowledge (high-risk births) or special skills (massage, reiki)? Yes, I provide massage helpful with pain management during labor as well as helpful in the progression of labor.  I have assisted with VBAC births and births with extenuating circumstances.

What is your philosophy about birth?  As a doula, I am there to enhance the birth experience that the laboring woman and her partner desire.  Each birth is different and I approach each birth without any preconceived notions or agendas.

How do you work with the careproviders and facilitate communication?  As a doula, it is important to remember that there is a line between the medical support and the emotional/physical comfort support.  I establish a rapport and visit the hospital before a labor to familiarize myself with the L&D floor.  My goal is to encourage good communication between the medical staff and the parents by educating the parents on what questions to ask.

When will you come during labor? Are you available by phone?  Each client is different.  Sometimes I arrive at your home and then follow you over to the hospital after laboring at home for a while.  I am available 24/7 by phone if you are in labor and 7a-11p for any nonurgent communication.

Do you have a back-up doula and can we meet her?  I do ask for a backup doula if I have less than 3 weeks between clients.

How many pre-natal and post-partum visits do you provide? 2 prenatal (not including initial consultation) and one postpartum.  This includes unlimited phone contact.

How do you support the father at a birth?  I assist him in being an integral part of the birthing process to the extent he is comfortable.  I can guide him through comfort measures for his partner as well as provide relief for him as he needs it.  I like to inform him of the process as it is happening and alay any fears he may have so he can focus on loving his wife and baby.

How much are your fees and what do they include? My fee is 1200.00.  It includes all afore mentioned visits, breastfeeding support, contact, community referrals, and other benefits that I would be happy to speak about in detail at a consultation.
